Stillpoint Original Programming

In addition to Stillpoint’s community-led programs, we also produce original programming that is free for everyone.

The goals for all of Stillpoint’s programs are to learn from different perspectives and build a stronger, more resilient community.

Donations are always welcome and help to ensure that all of our other programming remains affordable.

Friday-Night Forums

Friday-Night Forums explore topics of the day in a public-square setting. Each forum is led by a facilitator who will help people engage in kind and respectful dialogue, keep the conversation moving, and make room for everyone who wants to speak.

The evening begins with two or more individuals presenting differing points of view. The floor is then open for others to contribute their perspectives and feelings. After 80 minutes, the initial presenters will make closing remarks. At the 90-minute mark we break for snacks, tea, and informal conversation.

Topics discussed at previous forums:
Political Identities: Woke and MAGA
Regionalization
The Wind Farm
What to Do about the White Pine in Manuel F. Correllus State Forest
Up-Island and Down-Island Differences
The Impact of Wealth Inequality on Martha’s Vineyard
How the Media Divides Us

They are also opportunities to introduce new initiatives on Martha’s Vineyard and invite Island nonprofit organizations to report about their collaborations. We want to hear from you!
