Rules for Usage

  • The maximum capacity of for our programs is 96 people (including staff and volunteers).

  • This is a quiet campus. All Stillpoint partners must abide by all West Tisbury noise bylaws.

  • Programs on the Stillpoint campus must be predominantly for educational or religious purposes.

  • There can be no amplified sound outside of the building, except as may be required to comply with ADA requirements. The Martha’s Vineyard Commission has set the following decibel limit: “Amplified sound, as measured at any property boundary, shall not exceed 5 dB(A) above ambient sound as measured at the same time.”

  • Smaller programs (36–60 people) require a $250 security and cleaning deposit; for larger programs (61–96 people), this will be $500. The deposit will be refunded once the building is clean and it is determined that nothing was damaged. 

  • We encourage a cell-phone-free environment. If you must have your phone with you, it (and all other phones brought into the barn) should be on silent. 

  • No smoking is allowed on the premises, indoors or out.

  • The sale of alcohol is prohibited. At events where alcohol is served, excessive drinking is prohibited. 

  • It is the applicant’s responsibility to determine if their program needs any permits from the Town of West Tisbury, and to procure any necessary permits.

  • No pets are allowed inside the barn. Outside, all pets must be on a leash.

  • Use of the barn’s audiovisual equipment must be arranged in advance.

  • All food service shall be the applicant’s responsibility.

Insurance
Organizations wishing to rent Stillpoint to produce their own programs must secure their own general liability insurance and provide a certificate of insurance. There are places online that sell inexpensive one-day insurance policies (theeventhelper.com, specialeventinsurance.com, etc.).

Accessibility
Stillpoint is ADA-compliant. One of its three restrooms is handicapped-and wheelchair-accessible. 

Tents
Small tents are allowed but must be approved by Stillpoint. Cook or kitchen tents are permitted for caterers. There will be an additional charge.

Early Access
Early Access to Stillpoint for load-in, materials drop-off, tent installation, or other additions must be arranged ahead of time, and there will be an additional charge.

Pre-Production Meetings
Your rental includes a one-hour meeting with our staff and a 30-minute tech check. If you require more assistance, we are happy to help at a rate of $75/hour.

Cleaning Checklist
The space, inside and outside, must be kept clean. Stillpoint provides brooms, mops, a vacuum cleaner, and other cleaning supplies. 

Each renter is responsible for removing their own trash. 

All tables and chairs are to be wiped clean and neatly stacked. Please do not drag them across the floor.

We ask that participants treat all colleagues, partners, and community members with respect and kindness and be considerate of differing viewpoints, experiences, and backgrounds. We encourage you to approach one another’s ideas with curiosity and openness. Please always maintain respectful dialogue, even when disagreements arise, and work to seek common ground and solutions that benefit everyone. 

We celebrate diversity and strive to be inclusive of all individuals, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, or background. To this end, we ask you to be conscious of language, actions, and behaviors that may unintentionally exclude or marginalize others. 

Conflict and disagreement may arise and can be productive. All parties shall aim to listen and seek understanding before responding further. Dialogue intended towards resolution and mutual respect will be encouraged. If this is not possible, and the conflict escalates, all parties will be asked to leave until they can engage in conversation respectfully. 

Supporting one another with curiosity, cooperation, and respect will help maintain a positive and uplifting environment for everyone. This intention strengthens the ethos upon which Stillpoint was conceived and allows for it to thrive as a valuable community resource.
